THE MAKER'S STORY

Meet the maker

Yacob Yarolo began making Papuan crowns in 2021, drawn by seeing people wear them. He also wanted his family to avoid buying crowns whenever his children performed at school arts events. From crowns he moved on to sirkam (hair pins), gata-gata (chopsticks for papeda) and bale-bale papeda (a tool for making papeda).
